  1. Great list, and I completely agree with your appraisal of Ladd and Olivier.

    I know it’s a rite of passage that movie stars are better looking than your average, but it can be ridiculously distracting. Whilst I’m not going to argue that Longfellow Deeds (Gary Cooper’s character in Mr Deeds Goes to Town) needed to be unattractive, I’d suggest that Cooper’s beauty is a total distraction and undermines the small town setting of the story.

    Surely anyone that good looking in that kind of place would’ve made it in Hollywood!
